I would go with the cheaper 1br. Then you will have more money for fish!! Good luck man.

Bigger complexes with pools and stuff tend to have income guidelines where you have to earn like 3x the amount of rent (ssi counts). So a smaller, more private apartment complex would be more likely to accept you. That's how it works down here, anyway. The only way I am getting into a big complex is by being a full time student and having my dad co-sign.

I'm getting a 400 sq ft studio apartment that's $509/ month, no utilities included, I get $674 for SSI and I'll be on foodstamps which might help up to $200/month... I'm estimating all my utilities will come to about $100, so that's $609, puls a $20/month rent increase for having a dog, so that's like $630, plus internet which is $20/month, so that's $650, which leaves me with $24/month. I'm going to be living very tight.

If this helps- my gym has a membership plan that is only $10 a month and they have showers at the gym.... I know its not a long term solution, but you may not find a magic bullet that fixes all your problems at once, you may have to find one solution at a time.

Seriously, get a job. I am 32 and since I got my working papers at 15 I've never not had a job. Even if it was bussing tables, or doing someone else's laundry, or sweeping up at the local hair salon. I am not telling you to commit fraud, but I've had a lot of cash jobs that were off the books. Mow lawns, rake leaves, split firewood, shovel snow, get a freekin paper route. Knock on your neighbor's doors or put a note in their mail boxes to see if they need help with the yard, or moving furniture, cleaning out the attic, whatever. I've gotten a lot of jobs just walking into places- Deli's, laundrymats, hair salons, restaurants etc and asking if they are hiring. PS. if you are going to try that, wear pants that fit. Make a good first impression.

well i signed the papers and droped it off ( they wernt there bu there doors were open so i just went in and put it on the counter ) all i have to pay is rent and elec. water sewer garbage stuff like that is free. but as i was signing it, it looked like my granny was about to cry ah well. and as i was leavin to drop it off miniie ( dog ) was giving me a sad faace which was giving me 2nd thoughts but i just went ahead and droped it off.. im getting a 1 bedroom thats like 200 or 300 a month..
