I just looked up on Ember Tetra - that's a neat looking fish I haven't seen before.
Does it really stay under 1 inch?Hmm even Rummy Nose Rasbora appears to be small too at 1 inch.
Hmm. for a 46 gallon, i entered in 12 black neons, 1 angelfish, 2 GBRs, 1 otto, and 5 pandas. I thought even that was pushing it (it's what i would like to have) and it came out to be 45% full! haha so by that calculator I could double all of that... which doesn't seem feasible.
good luck but like jm said there so many factors its hard for a simple program to figure out.... if you have plants you can stock more... also new people shouldnt stock as heavy as pros. there are always limits you can push.

In the worst case, I learn C# which I didn't know before. That ain't half bad.I have to admit, I am also learning more about different species I didn't know before too which is nice.
This program is only 1 week old. If you give it a couple of months, I think it will be able to figure out much more intelligently by then.
I will also add hobbyist experience level and plants factors on my future to-do list.
Since v0.2, I have updated the algorithm. The version on my PC is saying you will be 71% full.
I am still fine tuning the formula and making DB more accurate so this level will fluctuate more but it will settle at some level eventually.I'm also thinking (as Mgamer mentioned above) of introducing the experience level factor - i.e. if you don't have much experience or want easily maintainable tank, you should aim for lower than 100% stock level. Some likes to stock less for easier maintenance, while others may like to even overstock and be on alert all the time along with crazy water change schedules. At the end, it is up to them.
Every single tank I owned, according to the version I have on my PC right now, the final stock levels are dead on. Those stocks are based on recommendations from the forum, and I have kept them healthy for 3 years. And the tank sizes varied from 75g to 5.5g. I had 7 tanks going at that time. So I hope I am not too far off.

I've been the sounding board/structure designer for the past 5 years for the development of a half a dozen different databases. A good friend of mine is one of those obnoxious savant programmers. You can almost see code running behind his eyes at times. I actually ended up writing a 100+ page user manual for one of them (if you think they are boring to read try writing one of them... snore).
If you need someone to look over you design let me know. I'd like to think I've gotten pretty good at it over the years.
