AquAdvisor - software to help you stock your tanks!

It says that dwarf gouramis and zebra danios are too big for a 10 gallon???? Surely that's wrong! Also you mispelt Danio on the species list.

Great software BTW! Gonna definately use it when that is sorted out :)

I personally wouldn't keep those two in 10g but perhaps you are keeping them successfully in 10g?

Mis-spell has been fixed now. :)

Since v0.2, I have updated the algorithm. The version on my PC is saying you will be 71% full. :) I am still fine tuning the formula and making DB more accurate so this level will fluctuate more but it will settle at some level eventually.

Hmm, I do have v0.2 and I still get 45% full, tank width 48, H 15 & D 15. Also I think german blue rams get to 3.5 inches rather than 2.5 inches as you have them listed. This is a really neat program though and I think it can be sorted out to work nicely!

Yes, the version I have on my PC is later than yours but not published yet. Hence you will see it on v0.3. Does it really get to 3.5 inches? The ones I kept never grew past 2.5 but I could be wrong. Let me look further into that.

Ok I was mistaken on this. The 10g tank I had before was 20x10x12. In these 10g tanks, Zebra Danio would have been ok in the application and so would dwarf Gourami. I was only watching your tank's footprint hence I thought it was too small. It appears that your tank is a 10g "tall" tank which has smaller stock capacity compare to my 10g. :D

Thanks for the comments. Some of my comments to yours:

Your aggression comments are informative - I'll take those into account. Right now, internally, it uses scale of 1 - 5. Also, I have 3 types of aggressions which I don't use in the analysis - aggression within the same species, aggression across other species and aggression when spawning. Hopefully some day, I will be able to use all of them. I don't intend to leave the label as is - I want it to be able to figure out the compatibility for you.

Good idea on comments and scientific names... :)
Those three types of aggression are exactly what I was thinking of - it's just hard to take those qualitative variables and make them quantitative.

I just looked up on Ember Tetra - that's a neat looking fish I haven't seen before. :D Does it really stay under 1 inch?

Hmm even Rummy Nose Rasbora appears to be small too at 1 inch.
Yep! Embers won't exceed 0.8". They're tight schoolers, not too shy, and look fantastic in a planted tank. Sawbwa resplendens are about Neon-sized (and probably the same bio load) at 1.6". They're very shy unless they are given the conditions they like - lots of plants (including floaters), and somewhat dim lighting. I think their looks make up for it though. The orange can get really vivid.

Ok thanks, but a dwarf gourami could be kept in a five gallon, so it doesnt matter whether it is a ten tall or not. I didnt know how big a ten gallon is so i put in trandom figures until it came to that. I don't have a ten gallon yo see ;)

Is height (and therefore volume?) not properly figured into stock levels?
Cardinal Tetras reach 2".

Height is currently not figured into the stock levels. The reason is because it is the water surface area that determines the stock level in most cases. There are few exceptions however for some fishes that actually requires taller tanks. I have an attribute reserved for this purpose but I am not using it yet.
