I have a sailfin gibby that looks very similar to that. At first, I too thought it was ill, but quickly learned that it is from stress. It is most noticiable when I first turn the light on in the tank. After a while, it starts looking normal again. When lights are off in the tank, but turned on in the room, it looks fine.
IMO, if your other fish are doing well, I would put them back in the tank. Leaving your plecos in a small bowl with 2 water changes a day will stress them much more and they will more than likely die from the stress. Just monitor them in the tank, make sure they are eating well and continue on good tank maintenance regime.
