I have 3 three snail in 2 different tanks. i have a 1 black myster snail, blue mystery snail and a gold mystery snail.
i think the black and blue one are dead. they do not move and have this slime coming out of them. can some help me in identifying what is going on. :girl:

If he doesn't close his trap door when you pick him up or poke him, he's probably dead. My snails didn't last very long for some reason. ....couple/three months and they were gone. Everything else is happy though. ..including those pesky mini-snails.

I had the displeasant experience of smelling a dead one. The LFS employee/friend put it right under my nose. YUCK!

Yes, I don't know of a worse smell.
:thud:

oh ok yeah they go back in when i touch them. i hope they not reproducing though. because i saw two of them in a very unforgettable position at night. LOL

What is that slimy stuff though and why are they producing so much of it.

My very large apple snail has the slimy stuff and it usually comes with some brown stuff so I am assuming it is.....poopy? I dont know other than that LOL.

40 is high. Most people keep thier nitrates under 20. I would do a water change or two and see how they are acting.

I have one snail that just stays in his shell all the time if he is one particular tank, but if I move him to another he is out and about. I can't really explain it, both tanks read about the same in set up and chemically.
