Are saltwater aquariums harder to take care of

Having done it, I can say that an FO with two clowns and a UG filter is almost as simple as an "unmodded" FW tank. Just have to watch salinity every once in a while, and vac the crushed coral.

If you define a SW tank as a reef, then it's a different question.

Well you still have to top off with ro/di water and do water changes while checking salinity. Also need to does alk or check alk to maintain ph.

The algae in my Fresh water pool is much harder to remove than the junk in the Salt water tank As of yet I’m unable to find some inverts that will do the job I would say I spent far more time maintaining the Fresh water algae tank than the salt water rock tank with some wish and lots of inverts to keep it clean. :dive:
hmmmm...... inverts in a pool.... now there's a thought, now what to do with the chlorine content.... :dive:

Yep, have to top off. Not rocket science. Regular water changes deal with alkalinity and pH just fine.

Just trying to point out that it can be as complicated as you make it. Comparing a reef to a FO FW tank is not particularly valid.

Sometimes I think the SW people need to feel superior, not sure why.

Ok so what about getting enough live rock for bio filtration also cycling plus theres always the unwanted hitchikers. Gotta have a clean up crew thats diverse, not a simple pleco for FO FW. Gotta use reversed osmosis water vs just tap for fresh. Have to keep an eye on salinity.Blah blah blah.

You're not making any sense--live rock isn't the only option for biological filtration in a saltwater setup, nor is a cleanup crew required. And heck, a pleco is a ridiculous cleaner in a FW setup--size and adult food preferences alone disqualify them from most tanks. RO water is needed in some cases for either, but not mandatory for SW.

This is silly.

I have to agree with OG...this thread has been made 'rediculous.' Why don't you guys pull out your tape measures and see who has the biggest...
