i was just wondering if salt water aquariums r harder to take care of because i have always wanted them but they look really hard to take care of so can anyone give me any insite about them???

thanx KEVIN

Depends. I spend more time on my planted Fw tanks than on the SW tanks--it's mostly a matter of scale and stocking though. My FW tanks are stocked a little heavier, and are smaller than the SW setups. A nano (anything less than ~30 gallons) will be harder and more work SW than the same tank will be as a FW setup--more parameters to keep in line--and a reef is a bit more work than a FO. But--either way--once setup and stable, a SW tank isn't much more work than a FW tank. Research, go slow, plan, go as big as you can (or as big as you need for the animals you want), and plan on buying the good stuff on the first go--saves money in the long run.

I would say hard as in having to part with money maybe, but all and all its pretty simplistic. The key to a saltwater tank is time and research.

true..... but I also think both have their own level of difficulty..... FW tanks are just more focused on different things and needs as a SW tank is...... each with their own levels..... my opinion though is that salt is easier.... more costly, sure but easier....ugh but then I'm thinking, Fresh isn't at all difficult..... I guess like the above posts, most things depend on your research.

No there are more variables involved in saltwater then fresh. Just the waters chemical makeup alone can be tricky.

Freshwater is too easy.

for example..... water changes are more frequent for my FW tanks than my SW tank..... which I consider a big thing...... but I also keep Goldfish which are huge waste producers....
