are you an obsessive compulsive fishkeeper?

CyberTrip -- tinfoils? They look like tinfoil barbs.

Hey, gagaliya, a better question might be who DOESN'T count their fish :)

I currently have 29, yes 29 rainbowfish in one of my 75g tanks. The biggest are three juvie duboulayi males that are 3 inches. The rest are 2" and under, some are about an inch. Three different species, but most juvie rainbows look alike to some degree, especially the females. Try counting THOSE.

"Argh! Wait! Is that a Pagwi or a parva? Hold still! I already counted you, go away! No, I'm not feeding you. I already did. Quit chasing that wrong specie female you randy son of a *beep*! You're not old enough to do that yet."

This tank is a "holding" & QT tank for the time being while I finish planting the other three tanks I have. Then they'll be put in species only tanks.

Yep, they sure are. I've had them for about a year. Looking to get some African Cichlids in a month or two and I would like to get a divided 5 gallon tank for a couple of Betta's.

lol guys, ok good guess i havent lost my head yet.

CyberTrip, that's an inspirational tank! no seriously, put a single green plant in the middle, and two to three 4-5" inch colorful fish. done! :)

How about I post a picture of my tank and you counters can try to figure out how many pond snails are in there? It would be like one of those jellybean jars...

I count every morning... three really frustrating things:

Some days I can't find my crab. He's definitely the resident fish tank ninja.

Some days my loach pulls the disappearing act too (once I found him inside my filter).

Since my ghost shrimp starting breeding I try to keep track of their numbers, but counting them and finding them is madness...

Wow....I guess I'm not as fish nutty as I thought ! LOL !

I don't have huge numbers in any of my tanks, except for the multi 20long...and I don't bother trying to count all those babies in there...there's no way I could...but I do note the 3 adults I have in there..to be sure they're all doing well.

I do make mental notes on health and...well, I guess I do count to be sure everyone is in there and doing well at least once a day on each of my tanks at feeding time.

On one of those counting forays I discovered I was missing a male half black pastel in my B&W tank !

I still haven't found him...and I'm down to only one female.....dang. She's in with a few of the boys right now (poor girl), hopefully I'll get some more fry. You don't find those often around here.....and I simply MUST have HB pastel guppies for my B&W tank at all times !

Yeah, I'm nuts........yep...

Yep, I do it every single day. I also compulsively test my water even though the tank cycled months ago. I'm always worried something will go wrong and I'd rather catch it first before it affects any fish.

Yep. Me, too. Count every day. Already taking paxil and it doesn't seem to be helping this OCD fish counting problem.

If I see more than 2 snails, the "extras" go out the back door. We never bought any snails; they came with the plants. My plan is to have 1 and only 1 of each species that hitchhiked into my life.

What wrong with OCD, nothing. Nothing wrong with it. OCD keeps fish alive!
Now if you want to talk about the paranoid schizos.........

Yes, I am obsessive about the tanks, but no, counting fish daily is not in the cards. Most of my tanks are species, many are heavily planted, many of those house singletons. Not even all of the singletons can be spotted easily.
