Argentine Sword - aquatic or not?

Hello,

I picked up a nice Argentine Sword last night at Petsmart, but now I am worried. I could have sworn when I researched it I found it was OK but now I see different opinions on here whether its aquatic or not.
some say it will rot, some say the old leaves will die but new ones will be OK from now on.

can someone please set the record straight?

What's the Latin name? If it's an Echinodorus, it will survive underwater. If it's a Spathiphyllum, then it'll die in time. Common names change with the wind direction and are meaningless.

they didnt have a latin name for it, it was in one of the plant tanks, not packaged in plastic tube.

We don't even know what the plant actually is yet.

It's probably Echinodorus argentinensis.
