Hi guys! I'm in the process of setting up 10+ tanks for betta housing. View my progress so far.

The plan:
House as many bettas as cheaply as possible. Run tanks with individual sponge filters hooked up to a single giant air pump.

What I've aquired:
-1 5-tier shelving unit which holds 150 lbs per shelve ($38 @ Lowes)
-7 5.5 gallon rectangular tanks
-3 strip lights, T12 with 20 watt bulbs
-12 sponge filters ($35 @Bayleesfish)
-ton of airline, tees and valves
-soo many overgrown plants from my other tanks

The shelve pre-assembly:

The shelves shown with 6 tanks:

The sponge filters:

(I think these are amazing btw! It's hard to tell in the picture, but each sponge does come with the lift tube complete with airstone)

A light, post DYI wiring:

(Check out the thread on how I showed these lights who's boss...BK828 being the boss lol thanks!):bowing:

Some of the tanks set up with water and the sponge filters:

This is just so you can see how they are attached to the same airline. I am going to seed them in my other tanks.

What's left to do:
-Seed the filters
-Finish wiring the remaining lights, and mount the lights on the shelves
-Trim and fix up plants to put them in the tanks
-Find suitable rocks to mount java fern/anubias onto
-Buy plastic craft mesh and cut it into lids
-Get some pots, etc for caves

Thanks for reading! I'll update soon

Great start! Keep the updates coming! :D

Can't wait to see how it turns out! Great project.

Sweet.. Looks good!

Can't wait to see the pic of the final setup!

As well as the pic of the bettas!!

Bettas do fine in uncycled tanks if you do water changes semi often, so if it would be a hassle you could just skip that.

Great stuff! :D

Looks like a great start!

GREAT JOB!!!!!!!! I mean it. Looks so clean.

What substrate you plan to use in the tanks?

Btw not sure how much you are paying for the extension cord but check out a discount store, they have power outlets which are $3-5
