"Assorted african cichlids" tanks can contain hybrids, however they also can contain a consolidation of various (non-hybrid) species. I've never come across an 'assorted' tank that was stocked with all hybrids, (not to say they don't exist, however).
I see socolofi, kenyi, red zebras, auratus, venustus, cobalt blue zebras, etc all the time in assorted tanks (as well as a few ambiguous unknowns/hybrids from time to time).
I've also seen mouthbrooding mbuna in assorted tanks with no same-species male in the tank (and it's completely plausible for those hybrids to survive to 'selling size' and be placed in the assorted tank with the rest of the juvies.
