Astronotus crassipinnis?

This is a nice Oscar you got. I had one that looked just like yours except it was all white and had orange stripes lol. Really nice oscar If i saw it at the LFS and had the space I would snatch him/her up right away.

The first pic in your last post is slightly blurry the rest look clear to me. Most oscar are human responsive they love attention which does sometimes make it hard to get those side views.

oh yea, he is just such a curmudgeon. He hasn't really developed the "friendly" personality that alot of Oscars get. He pretty much is just surly most of the time. Its only been the last week or so (after having him for nearly a year now) that he has come around and accepted that I might be someone he likes.

The first vertical color bar on ocellatus is more towards the rear like on your's if you look at the pictures of li's crassipinnis you'll see the bar towards the front towards his gills. Oh well maybe he just wanted to be alone??? Thats weird all my previous oscars came swimming to the front from day 1. Your fish just has spunk lol.

Wild-caught, hobby strain, or wild-type from a known lineage? I've heard that the hobby strain might be a mix of Astronotuses, but I can't remember my sourcing on that, so it would be hard to evaluate the credibility...

no he was wild caught, not tank bred. I asked for more info on his collection place and whatnot.
