Attack of the killer fleas!

Frontline worked for a while on my cats then suddenly stopped working, now we use Revolution which is a godsend. It is a once a month spot treatment, but in my experience, tends to last 2 months plus. Advantage has never worked for us.

:iagree: Revolution is the best!! It's a bit more expensive but since I started using it we've never had a flea on our animals, or in the house and It's also supposed to kill some kinds of worms as well...yuck. You poor thing!! I hope you find an effectrive treatment for them soon. It's funny how some people get all chewed up by them and have these awful reactions when most people never have a bite. Good luck...

How did this turn out? I've been battling with bombs/powders/sprays/vacuuming/salt., you name it. It seems like everything I do calms them down for a couple days, then they come back with a vengeance. The cat is wearing a collar as well as Frontline, after having a flea dip, and she's itching still too.

sort of :topic:but did you know mayonnaise is one of the best ways to get rid of lice. a whole friggin jar in your hair! doesn't that sound disgusting? Now...envision someone wringing it out of your hair and eating handfuls of it. Vomit in your mouth a bit?:evil_lol:

MEE TOOO! This stinks! I have never had flea trouble like this. This year has been the worst. my one dog is allergic to them, so he looks like hes been through war...:(

I did find some relief, after using an outdoor spray on the yard and around the perimiter of the house. I am now only having to wash dogs and spray them every two weeks, and they seem to be loosing numbers...

I also ripped carpet out of almost everyroom in my house.

I got rid of mine *fingers crossed*. I sprayed with an aerosol spray stuff 3 times (once initially, then 10 days later, then 12 days later), even though the spray says it's effective for 210 days. I vacuumed 3x a day initially (carpets, curtains, couches, under furniture and anywhere the cats hang out) and washed all hard surface floors with a mild bleach solution. The cats were washed and dropped with Frontline, then dropped again after just 3 weeks. I'm down to vacuuming once a day, very thoroughly, and washing the floors every other day. I think it has helped that the weather has cooled off a bit. Good luck to you all!

Another vote for Revolution from me...it's the same formula for dogs and cats, and it's ferret safe so we get the big dog size and then dose it out by weight for the 3 cats and 4 ferrets, it's cheap that way. Never tried advantage, frontline stopped working before the month was up, sometimes I'll forget to dose them and still no fleas even a few weeks after they're due for it. As for carpets/upholstry, I'd put the animals in one room, sprinkle borax everywhere else, let it sit for a coupe hours, vacuum it all up then do the same for the room the pets were in, then toss the bag, using distilled vinegar on all the hard surfaces. After dosing with Revolution and a couple days of that, we were flea free and I haven't seen one in our place this year :). Good luck!

use different types of flea meds at different times of year per recommendations. It has worked GREAT with our cats and dogs. We used to have MAJOR infestations of fleas now we oly get a few.
