Hi!

I just purchased a background for my 55 gallon. The actual background sheet is taller than the glass part of the aquarium. By that, I mean that the sheet extends beyond the top and bottom of of the glass on onto the plastic frame.

Should I cut the sheet exactly the size of the glass and tape to the frame? Or should I leave it the size (height) that it is and tape it to the frame?

Any other installation tips? I'd hate to goof it up. :-)

Cut and use silicone.

you guys put your backgrounds inside your tanks? I have always taped it on the back, why silicon ? and I let my back ground hang in back. the stand hides it.

i was thinking of getting a background just for my 10g.

How do you get in to stay on your tank... I didnt think u had to put it inside..?

Do I understand correctly that some put it inside the tank?
Hmmm, I don't know....
I was definitely planning on taping it to the outside of the back.
I think I will cut it and tape it. Going to get me a razor blade...

Mine is on the outside of the tank.

I cut mine to fit the width and used a little package tape around the edges to keep it in place. The bottom is just a little bit on the plastic frame but it is not visible from the front that it is not flush. If it really bothered me or looked hokey I'd just take a razor blade and trim it to fit.

I have never heard of putting a background inside the tank.

Aside from an occasional drop of water getting between the tank wall and background, I have no complaints with how my background looks. I used solid blue and recently I saw at a LFS that they have a blue that fades from lighter blue to darker blue . . . pretty neat.

uh, lots of backgrounds are internal....
