hi =)
i bought a large pleco (12 inch) from a private sale, and almost immediately on the trip home, it was barking. it was a very loud and short cough-like bark, loud enough to startle me and hubby.
we got pleco home and into the tank, and it would bark roughly every 20-30 minutes.with each bark a large bubble would come out its mouth. later that night it randomly darted all the way across the tank and lay on its side, propped against a couple of rocks. within an hour it was dead.
id had it maybe 12 hours, so me and hubby were both rather miffed and upset.
does anyone know what could have been the problem and why it would bark????
i have other plecos, and have never in my life heard one make any noise.
google isnt much help lol

my 14'' pleco, does the same thing, blows bubbles, but rarely makes an audible bark loud enough to be noticed by most, its done this for 3-4yrs.
no reason for you to be concernd, i dont think

Other then it being dead, you mean...

Wow, I would seek my money back. Seems like they wanted to sell it because they found out or thought it was sick. Either way, it's just not fair or right.

That's really sad all around. I'm curious as to what was wrong with the poor thing.

we transported it in a huge bucket that was big enough he could suck onto the side. took about 40 minutes to reach home. hubby said he probably was sold because he was sick, but not worth chasing for $10 refund. just very upsetting as he was to be the "show" fish of our aquarium :(
