Being overtaken by SNAILS

I used clown loaches to clean up my snails. I never had issues with clown loaches catching ich. However, it is true that they're very suspectible to ich. I'd never buy one as long as i see an white spot one of their tank mates.

I didn't think yoyo loaches would eat snails. However, after purchasing, it does seem to eat smaller size snails.

Just use your big thumb and index fingers and squeeze the big snails to kill them. Leave the rest to the loaches.

As I am about to set up a 55g planted tank......

What about a salt water dip for the plants before placing them inside the tank? Does this work, or does it do more harm then good?

My main reason for concern is that Aquatic Plant Depot is local, and the prices are awesome without shipping. Should I be concerned? The plants will be the first inhabitants in the tank.

Got that 55 set up yet? :) I set my 55g. fw planted tank a few months ago. Seems it doesnt matter where you get plants from, you will almost always inherit some snails, IME anyway. From my reading on here, I checked them carefully for snails before adding to the tank, but didnt think (DUH! ) to look for eggs. Now I have plenty of snails, which I have even shared with my sister ;) (and she has cussed me eversince!) . The LFS has ordered some yoyo loaches which should be in this week, and I cant wait, hoping they will put a dent in the snail population.

Not yet... Got the substrate in Profile / Flourish Mix 75lbs total. Just got my driftwood from ebay last night so it's soaking now. Hopefully this weekend I can get the lights and wood to build a canopy for the tank. Then get it filled and let it run a few days. Then finally.... the plants, Aquatic Plant Depot is local so I'l be able to go pick up some nice stuff without shipping. There are also a great deal of Tropical Fish Farms in the area so I should be able to stock the tank pretty cheaply also.

My 20 Gallon reef has been up since January, and it's sitting with just some crabs and live rock, for a few more months to stabilize and mature. I guess I take things a little slow, researching every possible option before making decisions. Once it's up I'll post some pic's to my website.

I concur. Certain fish will learn to follow your hand around, waiting for you to find a snail. If you press and can't squish it, leave it be.
