Best Heater

I absolutely love my Via Aqua titanium heaters! I have read they are not accurate but that has not been a problem for me. They don't break like the glass ones, and I love being able to adjust the temp. from outside the tank instead of getting my hands wet. They are also very reasonably priced. ;)

Same here! My Via Aqua titanium heater is unbreakable and always accurate. I never have to fuss with it at all. I don't like any of my glass heaters when compared to the Via Aqua.

All I have to say is... Don't get a Whisper!

i wound up buying a stealth heater. it's been two years almost to the day and that thing has been rock solid.....go stealth!

Wow its like your back from the dead :grinyes: Have you really been a member here for 7 years! Wow. Were stealths even available when this thread was started :grinno:

About the lower ratings of the stealth, I often wonder if its due to the plastic coating acting like insulation... and maybe thats why you dont see em any higher than like 250W I think. But not sure what type of plastic it is... seems an awful lot like teflon but I know teflon can take a lot more heat than that (well since frying pans are coated with teflon plastic).

I for one will be trying out some Hydor Theo's... visitherm has been good to me but I needed more power (and in a sump I dont care about the nice black looks). They had good reviews until recently a lot of folks been dissing them, so guess I'll find out in a few weeks when I get everything runnin'.

Ive done theos I hate them...Another heater that has been good to me is Rena Top CAl Excell's! I think you might be right about the plastic coating on the stealths.

loach, i sort of am back from the dead....on this site, at least. i was just looking at my profile and realizing...dang, it's been two years since i posted this heater thing, i should type a follow up. and besides, it is a very worthwhile topic to keep alive considering the cost of heaters. and yes, i have been a member here for 7 years. i have had a lot more posts than my record shows but because of some technical issue and my account being dormant during the site overhaul, the old posts got knocked back down to 0. anyway, glad to be back on, giving my 2 cents again, and asking for you all's as well.

FYI This is :topic: but there is a thread somewhere (I think in announcements bugs section) to get your post number back if you remember how many you had!
