I just noticed tonight one of my tetras poop is white and stringy. He seems to be skinnier than the my other skirts and hangs out in one my plants. (Blackskirt Tetra)

Anyway, I did a search but couldn't really find anything. I'm looking for something I can go pickup tomorrow at Petco or a local LFS.

Levamisole hydrochloride and flubendazole are the most effective treatments and can cover a wide range of parasites including nematodes which metronidazole and praziquantel don't. Contact your vets for levamisole hydrochloride as that med's use is restricted in most places.

I have used Jungle anti-parasitic medicated food with good results. I had to crush the pellets wiht a back of a spoon to make them an appropriate size for tetras. They are also not very palatable (metronidazole is a very bitter med) so I mixed the pellets with crushed garlic to get the fish to eat it better. Also, fasting for a day or two before feeding helped increase their appetite and made them accept the food better. Best of luck!

You can find Jungle parasite clear at Petsmart/Petco. I didn't have any luck getting my loaches to eat the medicate food and I tried everything. I found Levamisole and Flubendazole at my local farm co-op. If there are any livestock farms in your area they may carry them, they are pig and sheep wormers.
There is a good article in the disease section at loachesonline for treatment.

garlic.... i would have never have thought of that. well, more like i didnt know they would like it.. but like the others here, i found the jungle med to work pretty well so long as they eat it.

I went and picked up the food today at petsmart. Tried to feed tonight and none of my fish wanted anything to do with it.

Looks I need to pick up some crushed garlic and try that.

Jarred garlic can work as well, the "juice" from the jarred garlic is easy to use. Crush the pellets, add a few drops of the garlic juice, or crushed garlic paste, and allow it to absorb into the food for a few minutes. It will sink, but the fish usually seek it out. Refrigerate any unused portion for the following day. Best of luck! There is also a garlic guard sold at LFS which is a concentrated liquid version of garlic juice...but very expensive.

I've also mixed crushed jungle pellets with bloodworms(frozen/thawed)

the meds will release and soak into the bloodworms.(add garlic as this stuf must be nasty tasting. tho my bolivian rams love the stuff(weird fish)
