Best place to buy plants?

tl, if you want weeds, those sound like them to me...wherever they come from, lol. Yep, easy to grow...

OP, if you're worried about snails etc., you can treat plants when you get them...but not all treatments are very plant (or maybe animal) safe. That's why I quit pretreating plants, I killed lots of plants but hopefully not too many fish or inverts...but I rarely buy from shops anymore.

I also live in a big city area & have at least 2 lfs (ish) that sell "tissue culture plants". Not everyone has those options or an awesome plant club.

Some amateur sellers have only a couple plants you may want...& some are very stingy with a 2 inch piece of stem plant, healthy or not so much...with several shipping fees. You may try looking online for a seller that has all or most plants you'd like to buy...But ask us first, sometimes the pretty pics & descriptions won't actually grow well in your tank...I've killed many plants over the years :(...& grown some well too :)

yeah i live in a small town in west virginia and the closest local pet store is an hour and 45 min from here. pet smart is about 2-3 hours. seattle aquatics got back with me and said they would do a soak or something for me for free. they seem to be pretty good. but this is my first tank since i was 12 i think and had no idea about cycling. i also didnt have real plants in that one.

Looking at aquatic plants online can be very seductive, but there are many that need co2 & high light to even barely survive. Did you order yet?

My best advice if it's not too late: cryptocorynes (most), java fern, anubias are easy, the last 2 are attached to wood or rocks as are bucephalandra (a more recent genus & still expensive). A couple stem plants like ludwedgia repens x arcuata, or rotala indica, maybe wisteria are pretty easy in medium-low light. Vallisneria asiatica (spiral val) is nice but spreads but runners.

You are going to have a hard time with "ground covers" unless you have co2. Dwarf sagittaria or chain swords won't give you a "lawn" effect, glossostigma might... Hairgrass is not a good choice without co2 IME.

To get back to the original point,

To boy Anubias or Java Fern online, personally I would look to Han Aquatics or Flip Aquatics... I've had good luck with both.

Both should be available from lots of pet stores if you could get to one, petsmart/petco may be able to ship.

I would personally be wary of anything shipped via USPS right now, if delays happen it isn't gonna be the best for the plants; check guarantees for shipping, and what would happen in the case of postal delays.

If you want less common varieties, I think somewhere selling UNS plants (buceplant.com would be an option)

No I havent ordered plants yet. I am looking for those which can be glued to rocks and need absolutely no C02. Which of those besides Anubias and Java Fern can be glued to something? Bucephalandra?
