Best way to Euthenize a sick fish.

more talk about freezing and vodka....truly
amazing.
If everybody is sooooo concerned with humane death, please try (at least consider) the 70% (or higher) rubbing alcohol (to the gills)!!
I'm VERY concerned w/ humane euthanasia and I find it amazing that so many people continue to speak of freezing.
I spent many years living on boats in the Caribbean and am trying to pass on a VERY QUICK and HUMANE way to euthanize a fish.
How many of you have actually used this method? Noteably;...on 75 lb - 250 lb fish?
Regardless, people still talk about freezing & boozing....
Go ahead; think of more ways to have the fish suffer-don't bother reading the posts...
and by all means, ignore members suggestions and torture your dying pets.
Maybe once you've rig lines and gaff & bring fish aboard a boat for a kill....you may get it; especially if you have to clean up after the whole ordeal.
Maybe the next post will talk of flushing it; reallyt houghtful.

Very sorry to offend you Conchqueen - I didn't think I had discounted your idea? I just wanted to know whether what I had read about putting a tropical fish in water temp 0 degC being instant death was true or myth. Having been on game boats and seen 100kg+ fish be killed with a baseball bat, I do appreciate a less painful and less messy suggestion for euthanasia.
Perhaps you can come down off your soap box and inform those of us who are obviously less educated than yourself about where to obtain some balanced and scientific information about euthanasia for fish?
