Hello! I am trying to save up money to get a betta fish and was wondering if they can use a regular water condition(In my case API Stress Coat) or if they need a special betta water conditioner.
Thanks!

They can use generic water conditioner I would do a lot more research on bettas. a good quality aquarium would run you about 100-200$

All the stuff from petco or PetSmart “for bettas” isn’t very good. Seachem prime is what I use, and don’t get one of those 2 gallon tanks. A betta needs 5 for a long fin 10 for a plakat

And 10 gives you tankmate options too. a good start would be purchasing a aqua clear 20 or a quality sponge filter and then a bag of washed play sand and then a 10 gallon aquarium with nothing extra

that would run you at most 30-50$ depending on what filter you get.
a good background material if desired is black card stock. The next things you would need would be a good heater and a light and lid

Then you can get plants Such as Anubias nana petite, java fern, java moss, cryptocoryne, bacopa, cabomba, Pygmy sword, mini bolbitis

Then you should have around 100$ spent and the rest can go into things like a siphon, a couple buckets, plant fertilizer nilocg thrive is a good choice and is all in one. Some root tabs and then a betta fish. since you are a beginner I’d get a imbellis wild betta or a plakat or female betta, long finned males tend to have more health problems ime. in a 10 tankmates can include, ember tetras, Pygmy cories, shrimp (ghost shrimp being a favorite of mine) khulis perhaps or mabye something like micro rasboras

Otocinclus are very cool too and keep the tank clean. I’d do a stock like this 1 nerite snail a dozen red cherry shrimp 6 Otocinclus and 1 betta imbellis
