Heh, sorry for all the questions, it’s an interesting issue I’d like to know more about.
They didn't say about treating the injection site but they did say it seemed to not bother the fish that much and within minutes the fish was back to normal, swimming around and begging for food. I don't think it was a permanent thing as one person said they had completed this 6-7 times on their betta. One person suggested that kiddneys shutting down may cause the body to retain fluids.
