Betta lump

A friend of mine has a betta and it has developed a white lump. Not sure how to help him as mine have never had anything like this.

There is a possibilty its a tumor, a cyst or an ulcer.
Though it might be a fungus as well. Is it fuzzy?
How's the little guy doing?

He’s still alive and my friend says he’s still acting in his normal fishy ways but the bump is growing which leads me to believe it might be a tumor.
it is not fuzzy. He’s just tying to keep him comfortable at this point since he has no clue what to do.

If it is not fuzzy then it might be tumor.

Eeek! I'm not sure I'll ever be ready or able for fish surgery especially so close to the gills. Maybe I could snip fins, but not into the body, that's a whole different thing.

Modern bettas are overbred & prone to lumps & shorter lives. I would just let it live out it's life lump & all...
