betta sorority help?

Cycling the tank is not a problem my sister has a healthy tank so I'll take the media and do that. I just have to buy a new heater and plants and a few decorations.

Has anyone here tried this? If so any tips or advice? Even stories. If its not likely to work I don't want them hurt but adding hiding places and tons of plants will be completely doable :)

I've got one up and going right now. 4 females in a 10 gallon tank heavily planted . The two larger females are at the top of the pecking order and hang out together with the smaller ones avoiding them by dodging around plants. I've had them in there for over a year now and other than an occasional minor bicker (some split fins that healed in a few days) I haven't had any problems.

I'm thinking of moving them to my 15 gallon soon and possibly in time setting up a 60 or 70 gallon planted tank with 10-12 of them (with guppies and oto's). I just need more money to do it :)

trust your gut, if you don't think 10 gal would be big enough or aren't comfortable with it then go bigger.

My logic is you can always add more fish if you have extra space, but can't always add more space when you have too many fish. A buy right or buy twice kinda deal.

Apparently you're better off with an odd number... somethign about the pecking order. So I would suggest 3 or 5, probably 3. And if you give them sufficient cover, they should be fine.

I've heard 4 or more works best... And I'm gonna buy bettafix just in case they bite each other.

Did some research on the odd number rule. I think it's because if you have an even, they'll go into fighting 'pairs' and if you have an odd there will be another one to distract them so they get mixed up. They do establish a cool pecking order.
