Betta tank for friend

7 gallon will be fine. 10 galls would be even better. Make sure your fwend will have a 50 watt heater for it!

I DO have a betta in a 7 gal tank with cherry shrimp, amano shrimp, 3 guppies, couple of molly fry, 1 swordtail and guppy fry and one swordtail female and a 50 watt heater, he's doing really great (!)

I talked to her today. The 5 gal portrait is about as big as she can go. .

The marineland portrait has a tiny footprint, only thing I would go is betta x snail/shrimp

Yes! She's happy that she'll be gitting a bigger tank. It wont be 'till June (ish) that she gets it though (when she's willing to upgrade. (She'll upgrade after they move)). I'm having her read up som stuff on bettas first so she know how to take care on one.

No , I'm having her learn that though. She'll have to do a fish-in cycle because she already has the betta in a small, un-filtered, un-cycled container. I'll have to teach her how to do that.
