Bettas?

well from my personal experience..2 weeks ago i added my younger brothers betta into my tank along with my other fish and no nipping of fins or anything from betta..As long as u do not get any fish that are similar to a betta they should do fine :)goodluck and dont get worried if u see ur betta flare up a few times...just showing dominance :)

I've had two Betta's in with Neons (Phred and Phred II).

Neither have had any problems with the Neons or any of the other fishies. They just swim around in their own little dream world, not bothering anybody or anybody bothering them.

Neat fishies!

As stated, it really depends on each individual betta temperment. I have two bettas, one I attempted to put Neons in with and it turned quite ugly on day two. However, I think if the tank I had was bigger and heavier planted, I might have gotten away with it. The second betta, I attempted to put ghost shrimp in with..well..2 outta 6 survived. The other 4 became tasty treats for Arlo.

One male betta can live well in a community tank and like what has been said by others, 10 gal or larger tank is best.

thanks for all you advice guys! You all were quite helpful. Now i just have to talk my roommate into going for the bigger tank...

10 gallon is really not that big. We have one sitting on a small table in our foyer.
