Ok some of you know I bought 5 baby Jack Dempseys a couple months back. Well I had a bonded pair form and they staked claim over a flower pot but never breed. The L-144 and 3 other JD's were moved out leaving the pair solo in a very empty tank. Well I was looking inside my tanks checking up on myh fish before work. My 53gal inhabitants were all fine my top 20gal inhabitants doing good my lower 20gal inhabitants (2 JD's) doing good. I got diatoms and was like dang its even inside the pot now. Well on closer inspection its not diatoms there eggs:nilly:. Most are clear but bout 50 are white. Now to go get more fish supplies lol. Pics will be posted later of the pair and eggs. This is my first time breeding anything so kinda excited but nervous as well.

Now I need to upgrade ASAP need more money need a better job need to win the lotto. I need all of ur donations. Please donate to the help GER buy a bigger tank for his Blue Gene Jack Dempsey Foundation lol Just Kiddin.:duh: Ok got to do more research be back later on.

That's great! Congrats!

Thanks. The female keeps fanning the eggs the male is well in the dog house he isnt allowed near the eggs. Is that normal??? I took a few pic just need to upload n resize then ill post em on here.

When our Convicts laid eggs, they both watched over them. We would eventually remove the female cause she would try to eat the eggs, then the male would fan them and take over for the female.

Ok here is three pic I cant get closer shots my micro shot is ok but cant get nice close crisp shots. I need a micro lense. I only took three cuz well not much to take pics of lol. The male is outside the pot on the left side female inside she didnt like my red light on my camera.

Congrats GER.

It's not unusual for one of the parent to take over the duties of hatching and caring for the eggs. This is their first clutch so don't be surprised if they decide to eat them all and try it again. Some young pairs have to practice it a few times before they get it just right. Good luck!

Yeah I know that young pairs sometimes eat the eggs hoping that they dont but if they do its ok. Part of nature. What kind of filter should be used??? I still got my aquaclear 70 in there. Well more pics with flash.
