Bk's 2.5g Experiment

man, a house lamp turned on its side lol. Whatever works, right? I guess I'll cut the glass for mine too. Thanks for sharing though, confirms my thought that the glass canopy needs to be altered or done away with for the tank to have any sort of filtration. BTW what is the base of the lamp attached to?

Also it looks like your tank has changed a little with the possible addition of some plants..

Could you post a pic of just the front view of the tank, now that we've seen the canopy and all...? :)

for the glass you can get a glass cutter in homedepot for a few bucks. The glass is very thin so it should break away with ease.

The lamp lol... boy oh boy.. I took the cord and wrapped it to the top of the rack so that the base hovers and the top slightly rests on the versa top.

Since it was my first low light tank and was more of an experiment tank. I tried planting a low growing hygro species (porto velho) on the right side. With the few hours of light the tank gets, the plant seems to be doing very fine. In fact with just the 4hrs of lighting a day, my anubias/ferns are growing much better and cleaner than in a higher light setup.
Ill try and take a few photos later on.. my pc is low on disk space lol

I wandered onto this thread looking for lighting ideas for small tanks. I thought I'd have to go a little ghetto with a desk lamp, but Bk, you seriously take the cake with the house lamp, cord mount, and HP instruction manual reflector. lol

But like you say, if it works, why not? And those plants look great!
