black convict, bloodparrot crossbreed kind question

i give up here my questions are about their behavior and prsonalities what do i need to lookout for if they do breed or for arguments sake they are just good friends you know questions in that directions im starting to think this is a horrible forum but the some people do help you answered my orriginal question the best of all i think flowerhorn916 but i was hoping to decuss a few things also

raift: what questions were not answered? It is entirely likely that the fish you have can cross breed, but many do not think that it is a good idea to raise the fry. If you want to know if the parents will get along, the answer is probably yes. If you want to try and raise the fry, then you need to decide how many you will raise and what you will do with them when they are mature. Or, as I suggested above, you can simply let the parents breed and not save the fry, which will solve the problem within your own tank.

My other suggestion was, if you are going to go to all that trouble, raise a species that will breed true and will help the hobby.

Never mind, I give up. Maybe I think differently. The fish would never be given away, maybe an excuse for another tank was my plan. But like I said, never mind.

Raift if you fish decide to breed let them but if they start tearing eachother up I would seperate them and forget it. Also I would let they fry grow to mabey 1" each and pick the 12 best ones to grow out and let the rest be free feeders. But if your fish start hurting eachother while spawning I would seperate them IMO its not worth loosing a good fish for a hybrid that may not even work at all.

Sometimes I like to just sit back and read these threads... and then realize how unique we humans are in the animal kingdom. To have the "intellegence" to aquire and manipulate species. But how intellegent is it really? We are sitting here arguing over playing 'god'. I keep fish because I love animals to death and want to surround myself with them. Some people keep them for different reasons. But I think when the lives of living creatures are at stake we need to be responsible. We need to understand fully the ramifications of our actions.

Excellent post liv2padl. ;)

And for the record, I do not condone the spread of hybrids in the aquarium hobby, but I will not treat them as any less of a life. I let "nature" (and i use the term loosely) take its course in the aquarium.

Oh, nevermind

I was looking through FLowerhorn usa and other sites, and people have weird looking hybrids in their sig, so i was wondering if you had any of those.

Nope the weirdest one I have is a golden pearl FH w/ blue eyes. I like seeing weird fish too so if anyone has a cool hybrid post a pic.
