BLUE GILL IN A 29G???

my soon to be roomate wants to put a blue gill hes had in his 20g in an empty 29g i have in storage.... i need to know more info about them as in is it a general name for multiple types of fish, how big can they get, is a 29g big enough, what kind of food can we feed them, etc. i dont want to keep it if we cant keep it in a healthy and comfertable environment. any info will be appreciated thanks

I have caught several in a pond that were dinner plate size. I have never seen one that wasn't extremely aggressive and would eat anything. I remember as a kid catching them on shiny hooks with no bait.

29 might not be big enough, but its still better than the 20 it is in now. Go ahead an move him. You can feed it just about anything. Bugs, worms, regular fish food and if you put small gold fish in the tank Mr. Gill will be most appreciative.

They are very hardy fish and will come to the side of the tank to watch you as you watch them. The are very aggressive and very territorial.

yea he feeds it fish flakes that i give him from my stash and when it rains he goes outside and picks up worms for him (no chemicals in his yard and he cleans them)... but what king of blue gills are there? maybe i can identify it or next time i see him ill take a picture of it and post it so you guys can help me figuere it out

that's why i posted that Google link for ya. obviously you didn't bother to click on it ... it's full of info and pictures of bluegills.
 
bluegill are very fun to keep IMO if you keep them in the right conditions. when i was in High school i kept a 6" largemouth bass and a 4" bluegill in a 90 gallon tank and that was (and always will be) my favorite tank. get a bigger tank, and good luck!
