blue gill?

I agree with the above. The JD are tropical fish and the Bluegill is cold water.

If its in the 8 inch range, fry it up and eat it.

thats the best advice so far eat it they are actually pretty good

They do taste pretty good. They have different temps and would proabably fight so don't mix them unless you want one of them to end up dead. You could set up a 20 gal for it and it would probably be happy enough.

At the temps that a JD needs to keep its metabolism going a Bluegill's metabolism is in hyperdrive! Unless the JD kills the Bluegill before it has a chance to settle in the Bluegill wins that one every time.

Well if it's in a little tiny tank, you could always get a divider and keep it in a section of the 55g so it wouldn't harm the other fish (it would be better than living in an even smaller cramped space) until you can find out what to do with it.

blue gill

Ive had a bunch of fish frys, but never any blue gill frys. Arent they somewhat bony. I always thought I would spend more time pickin at em then eating them. Whats the best way to prepare a mess of blue gills?

Filet and fry. There are a lot of bones, but they are in a plane, not scattered through the meat, so it's easy to fillet the meat away from the bone. Be sure to fry the fins too, they make great "fish chips".
