Generally speaking, I prefer to get my Rams from an internet source.. I've tried local stores for Blue rams and have had poor luck with the survival.
I have a difficult time finding the Bolivian Rams(Altispinosa) as most stores have trouble selling the less colorful Bolivian.
I recently discovered a fish store supplier in PDX (Portland Ore)
they have both species of rams in stock and you can get a 6 pack for $30..shipped to my house is only $15 overnite. (since I am fairly close)
I picked up both species from them and have finally found Blue rams that survived my water... keep in mind water quality was never a question since I keep both Discus and Altum.. but blue rams were difficult to keep until I got these in...
as far as personality.. I found both species were very animated.. the Blue rams are kept with my discus and they will swim in the middle of the discus pack to eat.. same can be said for the Bolivians , which I keep with My P. Scalare..
both species are pugnacious ... and not afraid of their tank mates..
