Here's a pic of my male blue ram. Very pretty fish, I like these alot !

Zman....my ram fry are still thriving nicely! About 4 weeks old now. Some of them display a black flag..(that's what I call the front edge of the dorsel)..and black mask while feeding...pretty cool ! Could they be the males, or just the stronger healthier fry ?

Emg, everytime I see that picture I determine that I must buy a pair of these fish. In your experience are they okay with something like schools of small tetras?

I have 4 in a 20 gallon with only cardinals and Otos and they never harm or chase them.

My pair in my 29 are fairly aggressive with the 2 Bolivian Rams and occasionally my Cory when they get in there way, but they never seem to mess with my 10 Harlequin Rasbora. They never actually nip though, it is just a quick chase.

They are by far the best looking fish I’ve ever owned. Just throwing out another opinion out there for you to go along with whatever EMS offers as well.

Hey, I'll take any opinions from anyone who owns them. I've been considering "show fish" for a big planted community tank full of small schooling fish.

Hi guys

I isolated these two rams yday, and put them in to a different tank.
Stocked the tank with pellets, flakes and some live worms - hoping that something atleast would appeal their appetite.
Left them in the tank overnight - only to find in the morning that all the food is pretty much intact - and the worms are happily moving about right under the ram nose :sad
Inspite of their (apparent) starvation they seem to be doing fine. I worried that this way they would soon starve to death :(
Any advice guys ?

Harlock,

The only fish I have had experience keeping the rams with are neon dwarf gourami, danios and otocinclus. They seem to get along fine with all of these fish....but I did have one in with a female betta for a short time while I waited to set up another tank for it. It didn't do well with the betta. I believe they need to be with other peaceful fish. Mine was all stressed out when the betta kept pestering her.

They do tend to aggression towards each other as they settle property disputes. I had 1 male and 3 females in a 29 gallon and I had to take 2 female out when the male decided which babe he wanted to shack up with...lol...the two of them kept chasing and harrassing the other two until thier colors faded and they were pretty unhappy. I have read that a pair need no less than 2ft of space for thier territory, though you could put one in a smaller tank.

I love these little fish Harlock..they are just beautiful and have a neat personality for a fish. I haven't had any trouble keeping them at all...but I did have an issue with cammallanus nematodes on 3 that I bought from one batch. ONe died but the other two are doing well. None of my other fish have been affected.

I have read that corys are a problem for these rams, especially if you have a pair breeding. The corys get in thier space and annoy them from what I have read from others.

Do get some Harlock, they're great ! I have alot of little babies I'm going to need to find homes for in a few months.....but shipping is expensive ! :( I do have an LFS who will take them though...
