Blue's 40 Breeder

I love it Blue..you do such a good job!!

Here are some new pictures and video

Yesterday I went to an auction and picked up 3 more calvus. They are F1 yellow calvus. I put them in my Tang tank and I have noticed a huge difference in the behavior of my current calvus! They are so much more outgoing. I guess a little competition goes a long way. They still hate having their picture taken but the new ones don't mind.

After a 4 month time out with the mbuna, my C brichardi has been added back to the Tang tank. Hopefully he will behave himself this time or it's back with the mbuna!

So this weekend I am removing the following fish:

Endlers
Rainbow cichlids
Jewel cichlids
I'm still considering the C brichardi's removal.

I will be adding some new dither fish and 3 Altolamprologus Compressiceps Red Lufubu XD

I'm quickly becoming a Altolamprologus collector.

So that brings the stocking to:

?? Dithers
3 White Calvus
3 Yellow Calvus
3 Comps
1 M elipsifer
5 Occelatus Gold
Some plecos

Perhaps something else I have forgotten. As mentioned before all fish are still very small. Once pairs form, the extras will be removed. My calvus are still too small to breed so I'm not worried about cross breeding. Not really sure what I will do once they are full size but I still have plenty of time :D

Great tank, Blue! Right now, my favorites in there are the yellow calvus.

Awesome, is that an "inspector" pleco? Last year, I saw some medium sized ones for sale at my LFS when they were closing down, I should have grabbed them because they were on clearance for $5 each! I know they stay small and are carnivores. I wasn't sure how they would do all together and I didn't have the space to separate them. I've heard horror stories about plecos killing each other :( Now your pics are making me regret not having snapped them up.

I know what you mean about the Endlers. I just rehomed all of mine to someone (quite an upgrade for them, from a 29 gallon to a 55 gallon!) Compared to cichlids they are kind of boring, but they would be perfect for a kids tank. I wish I had kept a few to put in my soon to be empty 10 gallon tank. Instead I'll probably be putting some least killies in there, I finally found a local source :)

One thing I like about Endlers (and most other livebearers) is that they eat veggies. Tetras and danios just won't touch the stuff, but barbs and livebearers will pick at them. It encourages me to eat MY veggies knowing I can share with the fish ;)

Great shots, blue! Thanks so much for sharing.
