Blue's 80 Gallon Mbuna Tank

That is beautiful. Love the bookcases as well. Like a set almost, the three together.

That's a shame. I miss my mainganos, they were beautiful but like yours they were a tad high on the aggression. I think acei are fine in a 4ft tank as long as they have plenty of swimming space and their numbers are low. My male acei is at least 6" and seems perfectly happily in his 4ft tank.

Blue, just wondering how you clean your sand? I think it looks great but i chose gravel over sand just because i figured the sand would get sucked up through the siphon.

There is enough flow in the tank that the filter catches most of it. I have an eheim 2217 and a eheim 2028, plus a power head on the tank. I don't even vac my tank because the sand is rarely dirty, also I can't reach the bottom XD.

Every once in a while I take all the rocks out, usually to catch a fish, That stirs up some stuff so I do a large water change afterwards.

So here's an update!

Since removing the mainganos several of my males have colored up.

Ok first some horrible pictures of my male afra. Still unsure of the location but it's a nice looking fish. Very difficult to photograph!

Another male that has colored up is my Met. Membe Deep. He is also the tank boss now. Gorgeous fish.

Here is one of my new acei. They are very pretty but a little beat up from the trip. Should heal up though.

I have no idea what I did to make this picture come out so nice. I removed my dominant male msobo and the subdominant male has colored up nicely. He's a bit more docile than the previous male.

This is my male saulosi, He's been colored down to keep from being noticed by my afra. I honestly think he's prettier this way! Another photo that I have no idea how I achieved it.

Now some videos!

In this one you get a glimpse of my colored up enlongatus chewere! He's been solid black since I got him but now that the mainganos are gone he's slowly coloring up.

So a bit of an update.

I FINALLY found someone who breeds Metriaclima Membe deep. I'm going to have 10 juvies shipped in a few weeks. The downside is I have to make a bit of room. My hodge podge fish are on their way to auction on the 1st.

Fish going to auction:
Saulosi
Chewere male (never colors up unless the light is off)
Brown BN pleco(replaced with calicos)
Red tail shark(bullies my acei)
Maybe Albino socolofi
Maybe my red zebras

Eventually the Afras will go and so will the msobos though I have no idea who will take them since the females are messed up.

Future stocking:

Acei
Membe Deep
OB peacocks
Syno petricola

Good luck with the new Deeps! Sounds like a nice final stocking list....that's if anyone who keeps Mbuna could have a final stocking list. I would consider shipping my breeding group of albino socolofi to you if you were interested. :D

Edit - Are your videos deceiving or do you fish mostly stay out in front swimming around?
