Blue's BC 14

Thanks!

Well my aptasia seem to be immune to lemon juice now. So I broke down and bought some aptasia-X. It seems to be working so far. I know chemicals are usually not the way to go but I have very few corals, no fish and cheap inverts. I figured I should hit the pests hard while I can.

You could shoot for the Peppermint shrimp way of killing them. It's hit or miss, but they *shouldn't* harm your corals.

Oh, okay then. I plan to try them again if my aptasia starts to come back.

No worries in the AptasiaX or Joe's Juice type products. Just don't let those products sit on neighboring corals. If some drips on the coral (I swear these things learn to grow near corals) just gently wave it off the coral with your hand. All AptasiaX anf JJ are is kalk paste. It is much cheaper in the long run to buy a small jar of Kalkwasser and mix your own. I paid $11 for my jar of kalk and I will probably get no less than 30 ApX size bottles out it. The added benefit is you can mix it so the paste is really thick which burns the aptasia more and it tends to stick where you put it. Just mix with RO/DI water.

Thanks for the recipe. I figured it was ok to buy the stuff this time for the applicator. The curved needle one is perfect!

Did another rescape today, this on is a keeper. FINALLY. I removed one of my rocks, I think I just have too many for the tank size. I tried to pull the stuff I wanted out of the rock. I ended up disturbing a HUGE bristleworm! Thing must have been 10" long. He's awesome and living in a new rock now. I knew I had a decent size one that came with the rock but I had no idea it was that big.

I'm picking up a couple frags this weekend, it'll be fun to add something new to the tank :)

So far the aptasia I killed have not came back. Found a couple more I missed though and killed those too.

New pictures tomorrow after a water change./ Hopefully then my corals won't be so angry.

The curved tube does work well. Glad you found a scape you like (tough to do!)M. Look forward to the pics.

Here are the pictures! They look odd because my camera does not get LEDs. It just makes the color look so dull! I need to play with the settings more.

Zoas(they are starting to get better color under this light!)

Xenia is still a little mad because I knocked it over twice while moving things around yesterday.

the snails love this rock for some reason. One of those snails is actually a hermit but you can't tell from the picture.

Looks good to me! LEDs are pretty hard to capture for most.

I'm sure you know this but xenia will grow pretty rapidly and kind of take over. It is a beautiful coral but also invasive. To help control it isolate it to a single rock on the sand.

Hermits favorite shells are ceriths IME so don't be surprised if you find some empty shells down the line :).
