I'm working on my stock list for my 50gal planted here it is as it stands.

11 x corydora habrosus
10 x endler/guppy hybrid
20 x chili rasbora
1 x L204 Flash Panaque pleco
1 x L183 White stripped starlight ancistrus pleco
4 x Nerite snails
?? x Bladder/ramshorn snails :headshake2:

My wife wants me to stock something big and shiny:werd:, and I don't like predation (just got rid of my red-eared sliders because they were too violent) and i swear i'll skin anything that nibbles the fins on my flash panaque. I also would like to try to keep things S.A. themed, so i was thinking the Bolivian Ram would be a nice peaceful option. I was thinking about getting 2 males or 2 females as well, to avoid the breeding associated territoriality. I'm not set on getting anything really...just wondering what some options were or if this one was advisable.

bump?

I have 6 bolivian rams and I have no problem with any territorial aggression. They swim together and eat together. Never a problem, with mine anyways. And they don't bother the other fish in the tank either.

They wouldn't be a problem for anyone in that tank. Just make sure you get them all at the same time.

Thanks guys, just what i needed to know. What size group would i need? are they like corycats with the whole 6+ only thing? or would 2-4 be appropriate?

I'm sure 2-4 would be fine. A friend gave me these, so I got the whole kit and kiboodle. But I see alot of people with just one or 2.

Id keep an eye out on those rams, ive never owned the bolivian but i have had german blue and gold rams and ive seen the bolivians grow larger than the blue/golds. While there shouldnt really be any aggression problems, however they may call a couple chili rasboras snacktime. I cant prove it as i did not see it but in my tank i have a smallish german blue and i believe it ate a couple of my chilis, again cant prove but its really the only fish in my tank with some amount of size. My tank is planted, driftwood, and rock so there are hiding areas, but still a few chilis disappeared. May not happen with you just wanted to give you a heads up from my personal experience.
Also have habrosus corys with the ram, no damage has come from each other, but the ram does like to occassionally chase some corys away from its area

I would recommend the Bolivian Ram - nice fish to keep. I currently have two (mother and child). They can be a bit territorial, but I wouldn't worry in a tank that size. From what I've seen of mine, I'd be very surprised if they were predatory; mine mostly ignore other fish.

i have two females in my 20 tall, great fish and you wouldnt regret getting them. i keep them with some black skirt tetras and red cherry shrimp, never seen them go after the shrimp, even the babies. i wouldn't worry about your:) endlers
