I have a Molly that should have her babies very soon and I don't really know what to do. I have her in a single chamber breeding container thing. Will she eat the babies?

only when she is hungry or bored or sees one swimming nearby... :) you would need to separate her pretty quick if you want to keep the fry. We have a separate little 3g temporary fry tank...

From what I understand, the female that gives birth has some sort of hormone produced that surpresses her appitite for a short period of time after the birth. I am not sure how long but hopefully long enough for you to see that babies are around and then get her out. But make sure she is done giving birth. There can be lots of the little guys (I had at least 20 platy babies and that is probably on the low side).

Yea supposedely they can have up to 30 babies and they can be in labor for up to an hour so I guess I'll wait an hour and then take her out....that is if I'm awake...lol

I leave my palty fry to fend for themselves. 3 made it but I don;t have much room to take care of a whole new group of fish and most fish stores don't want them. Better to be eaten by a loved one I guess.

Well I got a new 5-way breeder today and that's all set up and I'm just waiting patiently...ok actually im very impatient....im standing at the aquarium going "push fishy push!" lol but neway yea so im waiting...i also added two female and one male dalmations today and one male and two female guppies to one of my other tanks...

the day is all over and done baby-wise and she ended up having approximately 47 babies!!! it was crazy...they just kept popping out....
