brine shrimp vs decapsulated brine shrimp

some will, some won't. Sometimes it takes time to adjust them to nonwiggling food. Live food stimulates them to bite. I keep both, and also microworms which are easier to harvest.

I use decaps in my hatchery but only for the older angels - I have found that the free swimmers need the stimulation of swimming to be attracted to the food to eat. I would say that after about 2 or 3 weeks I start adding decaps to their diet of live bbs to help the transition to crushed flake. Hope that helps.
it does. thankyou. see my problem is ive never hatched brine shrimp. i read this page http://www.brineshrimpdirect.com/Hatching-Brine-Shrimp-Cysts-c169.html and i have a cone allready built(an old egg tumbler) and understand most of it
but i dont have that special salt, what cheap-o methods do u guys use?
it says a heat of 80-82f do you all really follow this? my room temp is 72-75F.
and, Rinse: The warm incubation temperatures and metabolites from the hatching medium create ideal conditions for a bacteria bloom. Rinsing of the baby brine shrimp in a fine mesh net or sieve using clean fresh or salt water is important before feeding them to your fish.

I use a glass mason jar. I also use regular table salt, although I think kosher or sea salt works better. I just run the airline through a hole in the lid down to the bottom. When they are ready, I suck the bbs out with a turkey baster and rinse through a coffee filter.

Also hatching them at similar temps to yours. It helps for faster hatching if you keep them near heat but its not essential.

I use canning and pickling salt from wally world - it is less then $1.50 for 4 lbs. I use a slimline water container (also from wally world) which is around $5. It is a water container you would put in your fridge to get a cold drink from out of the spout. I love it because I can tilt it toward the spout end and just open the spout and let the brine shrimp come out into a container. I have a work light hanging over my shrimp area that keeps it around 80 degrees. I have been using this set up for several years and love it. Hope that helps.
