Building a fairly large cement pond DIY (+pics soon)

Thanks guys, i will try and get some pictures of the fish in the pond today. I don't know if you noticed that green plant was the same one in the pictures on page four and it has like quadrupled in size. I have to keep cutting it back otherwise it will take over the whole pond. Thankfully my cat loves hanging around outside but hates the pond so she deters the birds a bit. Anyway i will update later today.

Very Nice. How deep is it? How many gallons?

I love your idea! When I used to have a red eared slider turtle, I was planning on making a cement pond for him and lining it with blue iridescent tiles. I watched the guys make our swimming pool so I thought it would be similar to that.

Very nice job on the pond. I like the plants in and around it but can understand the hassle keeping it from becoming overgrown. As for the fish thieves, around here (California) people use painted wooden owls, but any life sized, lifelike replica of a predator they would have cause to fear should do the same job. Perhaps you could pick up a couple of cat statues to place near the pond and/or a replica of some kind of avian predator indiginous to your area that would keep them away?

My aunt uses a motion detected water sprayer thing to scare away predators for her pond.
