A couple of weeks ago, My brother brought home an Oscar (he is about 3 to 4 inches long including the tail) from his father's house that was being bullied by the other Oscars! He was pretty banged up. I told his father that they can't be together:(

The only thing I had was a 2 gallon tote and my box filter and 10 gallon Tetra whisper air pump.

So I seeded the box filter with some biomax from my AquaClear filter and added extra new biomax.

He has gotten better but today I found him on the floor. It was a 4 foot drop to the floor. I don't know how long he was there, it happen while we were sleeping.

I picked him up and put him back in the tote. A couple of minutes later I was about to go and throw him out along with the water in the tote.

But HE MOVED A LITTLE!:what:
So I rushed to the kitchen change the water, added prime and some meds (melafix and pimafix).

Now he is no longer lying flat on his side. He is upright:D What do I continue to do? It looks like one eye is bad (on the side that was expose fully to the air on the floor). Looks a little cloudy. Also when viewed from above it dies not look orange (normal color) like the other eye.

Please help!
My brother is planning to buy a 75 gallon tank in a few months.

With regards to the eye, if it doesn't improve I would assume it's never going to, but fish can live with 1 eye. In regards to recovery, it depends on the fish and the care given. Some fish never recover, others make miracle come backs from stuff like this. I'd suggest getting a lid or some other cover for the tank (if it jumped once it will again) and keeping a very close eye on water parms and the fish itself. Keep an eye out for infections, growths, and basically anything that isn't normal.

If we could get a picture of the fish we could give a better judgement on the eye. If it gets cloudier it *could* be rotting or have a fungus in it which is bad, to say the least.

Those pictures aren't showing up for me? If he's staying upright that means that he *probably* doesn't have issues with air in his stomach or body.

The pictures aren't showing up for me either now.
Bad news! Looks like he might not make it:(:banghead:

He is actually upside down at the moment! He does try to right himself. Lets see how he dies through the night. Can't sleep:( I'm worried.

I feel like a bad fish mommy.

Thanks

My Oscar went to the river in heaven. If it wasn't that he jumped out of tank he would have been alright.
Here are the deceased pictures:(

Sounds like they need to be on this website more than yourself haha.

Sorry it didn't work out. It is always sad when you lose a fish you have tried so hard to take care of. Good luck with your remaining fish. At least you tried.

Yes they do. I told him to do research first before buying. Told him the Oscar didn't need to die this way.
