Butterfly Koi Caught in Lake

I am just so saddened that they KILLED it, I mean, yes, I agree that IDIOTS dumping their fish are what ruins the hobby, but the FISH didn't do it...

that poor fish payed a dear price for its beauty

This whole thing makes me feel so sad. You would think when they saw it on the line, they would know it was something special and let it go. It doesn't exactly resemble the average river carp and I don't think anyone would confused this for a regularly stocked fish. At worst, I would have taken a picture of it and set it free. My question is who would want it taxidermied? It would be a daily reminder of my own stupidity, having found out it's relative worth were it alive.

The article said that their friends thought it was a Grass carp--although I don't see much resemblance other than the generic "carp" body.

But I have to agree, I see no point in having it killed.

I read the part about the grass carp. There is no way in a hot place anyone could have confused this for a grass carp, even if they couldn't positively identify what it was. The body shape and fin structure look totally different. That's kind of like saying "I think it might be a rodent of some kind- a mouse or a capybara or something." Okay, not quite that bad, but almost. Don't jump on this all of you biologists. I know KPCOFGS. :)

looks like it had a good life until caught lol
