It's pennywort, not bacopa.

Does cabomba always grow roots out of the stems when planted or is there something am doing?

That's usually the sign of a pretty nutrient rich environment since they are root feeders.

or could it be the otherway around? meaning not enough nutrients available so the plant drops out roots to help in absorbing more nutrient from the water column? this is just me rambling so don't count on it being right. :lipssealedsmilie:

I don't know but my ludwigia is doing the same thing on some of them....

My Cabomba looks nothing like my Hornwort except that it's green but it isn't even the same green. My Cabomba is sending out roots too.

My Cabomba does that too.

That's the way some of my stem plants spread, they send down roots to eventually reach the substrate. The whole stem gets pulled onto the surface & new upward growth & roots starts at each leaf node. It's easy to see how some can become pests without control.
