Calling RyJ

Its definatly more severum looking IMO. The base color and the stripe color are severum, and the stripes are more defined than most barred midas. PLus the fin colors are severum-ish. To me it looks like a baddly deformed severum.

yea, that one definatly looks midas....why would one look midas, but i still say the one i linked was part sev. hybrids are so confuzing, i'll stick to my F3963 store bought pure species

They look midas because they are pretty much mutant midas(with possibly another cichlid mixed in but possibly not).All midas look like that when small and when they hit about 2" they lose the stripes to gain the red/orange/pink...just like the BP does ;)
 
Genetic proof is the only way your going to prove what they really are. Untill you have that you can't say either way about what their liniage is. Untill that is offered up, you can just sit there and argue both ways till your blue in the face. I'm sure if I looked hard enough I could find you a deformed anything and argue that it could be part of the linage.
