Camallanus worm treatment HELP!

So today the fish are not very active at all and really are not to interested in food and few bottom sit and some are at the surface. Im not sure if it is from the levamisole or from the massive water change or both. Is that common for them to do after all that? On a better note i have not lost a fish from that and the one that was showing worms isnt showing them currently but im not sure if they fell out or went back inside the fish... I hope fell out!! How long till they start acting normal again?? I took a few picture of the tank if you were curious what it looked like!!

It is not from aether of the drugs, the Feb only kills inverts the lev is safe for almost anything.

you aether killed your cycle, OR and most likely its the worms taking there tole, dose the tank with Feb not just in the food!

You could try using some epsom salts to encourage the fish to flush the dead worms from their system. The dosage is 1 tsp. for 10 gallons. Some use 1 tbls. but I would try the lower dosage first.

i did the readings and they were.0 am, .0 no2, 5.0 no3 and 8.0 ph. The ph always fluxes from 7.4 to 8.0. My tank was cycled 2 weeks ago. The only way the cycled could have screwed up was the 90% water change. I only replaced the salt i removed and didnt add any other kind of chemicals. Only reason i did such a large water change was because charles from inkmkr who i got some more lev from wrote in the directions, they actually said try to removed all the water or most that you can. If it was the worms the why is the one who was the worst off doing the best? They were swimming around just fine and then i did the WC and put all the water back and then put the two tablespoons of lev solution in. The fenben didnt seem to be doing anything even after 3 days the worms looked like they were just laughing at me but then again maybe 250mg a day wasnt strong enough, people have said fenben doesnt work if its not injested and others say it doesnt have to be in the food but it seem the levamisole is working tho except for half of them bottom sitting. If they are still doing that tomorrow then i will do a small wc and dose with fenben again but this time should i try 500mg? I was going to wait till sat to do a WC since the directions said wait 3 days after dose of lev and then do a large water change. The shrimp and plants are all still fine. BTW here is the fenbendazole i have been using.

When i dosed with the fenben i would put one packet 250mg in 1 tablespoon of water, some flake and freeze dried blood worms and then after 30 mins i would dump the medicated food AND water in the tank so i wasnt just giving them just the food.

I've never had to do a 90% water change with fenbendazole. I assume that is recommended with Levamisole in hopes of vacuuming out the eggs instead of killing them. That may work, but it does seem drastic and stressful for the fish.

Keep in mind that killing the worms is often only the tip of iceberg. Some may come through unscathed, but by now they are weakened by the parasites and may develop other problems such as bacterial infections, prolapsed intestines, or, in the case of SA cichlids, Hole-in-the-Head. Good luck, Blake!

edit: I don't think 250 mg is enough for a 20 gallon tank, but I don't wish to add to the confusion at this point.

The 90% change was for a levamisole before adding it and now its the 3rd day and i gotta do it again to get the worms and eggs out but im worried cuz my fish are starting to come off the bottom now from the last water change and acting a little more normal and now i dont wanna screw them up again but i have to get the med/worms/eggs out of the water! So im gonna have to change my filter cuz its falling apart and since they are sealed filters its the only way i can get carbon in it. So i guess if no one has any advice about how i should do this today then i guess i will do it that way and then retreat in 3 weeks and hope for the best but so far i have no seen any worms hanging out of the fish at all so i hope thats a good thing but im not sure if the big worms that were hanging out can suck all the way back up there if any worms can crawl back in! I pray to GOD those jerks are laying dead in the rocks and burning in hell!! Those worms put me back alot and really screwed up my tank. I hope my fish will still breed after this!! Just have to give it time i guess!!

keep up with what you are doing between the 3 weeks before re treating treat with the Febenz. ..you can add a baggie of some sort to the water full of carbon if you must, but i never used carbon to remove the Lev, it is light soluble and dissipates on its own

Does carbon remove the fenben from the water? I know it removes some meds from the water but am unsure of the fenben. So what dose should i add to the tank? 2 packets, that would be 500mg in the 20 gallon. Im thinking i might wait untill tomorrow to do a water change and let the tank soak with some fenben tonight.

I netted the only fish that had actual worms coming out of her cuz she wasn't showing any worms so i very gently squeezed by her anus area to see if there were any worms left and two pale worms came out on my hand that didn't seem to move so it seems Im starting to win the battle! I hope! It seems my two female platys that were close to dropping fry haven't yet and the one is almost a week past her 28 day mark cuz i know when she had fry last but the other girl it is her first batch and her fry are the one i really want! She is a blue mickey mouse high fin! Her and my tiger mm male are the key to making my own strain. Does anyone know if these worms can make fish sterile or is it they just don't want to breed when they have the worms? One of the females that i have had since the beginning has never had a batch of fry and Im curious why. Do these worms stunt fishes growth and if they do can they recover and grow normally and breed?! One girl did have 15 fry during all this and most are healthy except for two that are really small and just sit on the bottom of their tank. Will they survive or Will i have to cull them?
