So glad I found this information, I am pretty sure this is what one of my fish have. Since I see it on one, is it safe to assume they all have it ? Would it make a difference if I separated him ?

Also trying to understand what would be the advantages to the medicated flake vs. adding the meds to the water ? Do they live in the water as well and should just add meds to the water to kill everything ?

if you can see the worms they are putting eggs in to your water..treat the water and the fish its much to late by the time you see them.

check here. this guy use to sell levamisole hcl but I believe still has other treatment too.

Levamisole can be used as a bath if the fish are not eating.

btw, the camillanus and capilaria have been on the increase for years I first had to deal with them in 2005

I uploaded my information to this website, and haven't gotten an e-mail back yet, it has been hours, and it says they will answer right away. Just wondering how long it took anyone else to hear back. Should I resend it ?

Thanks

Thanks for answering my question :)

Would it be beneficial for me to move my fish into another tank and feed the medicated flake ? Then "nuke" the tank as you said in a previous post.

I guess I am trying to figure out if it is worth buying meds for the water instead of just disinfecting the tank.

Found it in my spam folder!

glad it you found it.
I am a bit confused by Kaosu's statement as it is often when you see the worms that you realize there is a problem.

read theinfo you have and make the call.. treating with flubendazole works on the eggs as well as the parasite itself.
Levamisole works to paralize the parasite where it ti shed.. but the eggs in the water are still viable.. so retreatment is usually the SOP. eventually you will interupt the life cycle by killing the parasite before it drops eggs.

hang in there

I'm pretty sure they meant it was too late, all your fish are infected and need treatment. Not too late, all your fish are going to surely die.

Im sorry if what i said was confusing..to late as in you have to treat the water along with the fish..be it with the same treatment or not...the person asked if they could move the infected fish and just treat that one ..its to late for that..if the worms are showing they are putting eggs out in to the water...so its much to late to move them and only treat that one fish..the entire tank must be treated.

Kaosu, thanks for the explanation..you are correct
in general when treating parasites you would be treating the entire tank..once they show up and are noticeable it is much too late to move the fish.
another reason to use QT
