Camallanus Worms - now you see them, now you don't.

Bo is still doing well, eating unmedicated bloodworms and green veggie flakes. Anything else is ignored. At least he's gained some weight back but I could swear his poop came out of a different orifice. Is it possible that he's a she and the prolapse is a blown-out ovipositor? Here's views from both sides. I'll try to get one of him/her pooping.

I have no idea if that is possible..but if he is gaining weight, and eating ..than i would say leave it be unless he gets an infection.

he might have some damage from the worms..nasty little things with the backwards hooks to stay in...

your awesome!!! and so it Bo!!!

..my tank is still clear...two ish weeks with out medication. I feel kind like a perv some times sitting close to the tank staring at fish butts. lol

how's the HITH?
glad to hear your Bolivian Ram is on the mend

Thanks, guys. I guess I shouldn't worry too much about whatever is hanging out (as long as it's NOT worms, lol), he protects it with his pelvic fins and it doesn't seem to bother him. Still using the epsom salts @ 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons.

Ed, the HITH is about the same, but you can only see it from blown-up pics. To the naked eye he looks fine. I'll watch for clear or milky feces, and if that happens may try feeding a bit of Metro or put in the water again if he won't eat it. I've upped his water changes to twice weekly and am hoping with improved diet he can recover on his own, or at least keep it in check.

Jannika, metro would prob help since it has antibacterial properties.

I suspect the HITH is a direct result of the camallanus interfering with the absorption of the food.
which should be improving now.
keep the diet and clean water coming..
hoping for the best

Okay, I've some bloodworms soaking in it now, with a little garlic oil to disguise the taste. Hopefully he's good and hungry...

Bo is getting very picky about what he'll eat, but has chomped on some of the Metro-soaked bloodworms. The toxicity of this stuff worries me so I haven't fed it regularly, but his HITH hasn't completely cleared up either, so maybe I should. Other than that, he's doing real well.

..on the other hand..they look like they might be dead ones, ..still treating them anyway!

Oh no! If they're not red, they're probably dead, that's my new motto. lol I'm going to give mine a third treatment just to be sure, and maybe feed the dewormer once every few months. Good luck, K!
