Can a black ghost knife live in a 40 gallon long?

I did it by changing 1/3 to 1/2 of the tank 3 x a week. Anyone who feels up to that level of maintenance should also feel free to knock themselves out!

Ok, I see your point. I meant no disrespect. I do a 20% once a week. I use all hikari for dry foods, hikari frozen bloodworms, frozen market shrimp, and frozen smelts. He's in a 55 gal.

None taken, when I kept that fish I had no life and water changes seemed like fun. As far as diet I mixed it up as well, but I had access to basically unlimited amounts of several live foods. I would highly recommend you get some red wrigglers! They're very nutritious and a great training aid as well. I had mine playing tug of war from the time it could open its mouth wide enough to grab the worm. They're very tameable fish, on par with most Cichlids.
