Can Biocoat go bad???

Are you sure that it might be anerobic bacteria?

Absolutely not :) It is one theory that seemed to have a bit of supporting evidence. From the little I understand, the gas pockets have varying degrees, and depending on which gas is produced, varying severity. The smell was what led us in this direction more than anything. usually (not always ) when the water company messes with things it shows up smelling like the city pool. I have had experience with gas pockets and had fish survive. But Do not know what the norm is at all. I started using UGF years ago.

I don't know just a theory.

Anything is possible, deciphering things after the fact leaves a lot of theories and only a few facts. As far as I'm concerned the more theories and information the better. Some can be eliminated some cannot.

REDZPONY, If your local utility has a website there might be some informaton there as well. It never hurts to explore things a bit.

Yup, read that post and went to the Utilities Co. website...Chloramines are uses ( with a reverse osmosis system they say ) ..anyway....after much research, and back tracking...I think I know what happened, much in part to the input I received here....
About 2-3 days ago, I added some stress zyme, never had any problems with it previously. It can sometimes harbor the "bad" bacteria that can cause anaerobic bacterias, which thrive in oxegen deprived enviroments ( if I have understood this correctly )..anyway....the active ingredient in BioSafe redices the REDOX in the tank for about 12 hours...not a good thing IMO..so will never use this product again.
In short, whatever remained of the Stress Coat, went nuts when I added the BioSafe, perhaps creating an anaerobic enviroment to a toxic degree. This would explain how some lived, and some died....guess only the strongest survived the meyhem...not sure if I'm right or not, but the research has proved useful. I will only use Ammo Lock, and Ammo Lock II from here on out..Sress Zyme won't be allowed in my house, as well as BioSafe! Still going after the RFUG though, seems like a good thing to me either way!

Thank you Dave

And thank you Dave, had it not been for your suggestion of the anaerobic bacteria, I would never have ventured off in the direction I did......I feel I received quite an education since yesterday!
