Can filter floss be used as a water polisher?

i buy it at walmart in the sewing dept i buy the queen size roll i have 11 aquariums so i go thru alot of it but a large roll lasts me about 2 months and its 9.99 a bag. get the green colored bag the purple colored bag has flame retardent added you dont want that.

There are a few problems with using floss in HOBs, though it can be done. It clogs fairly quickly (compared with sponge blocks and cartridges commonly used in HOBs). If not cleaned or changed regularly, it can block the flow of water through the HOB potentially causing a spill-over.

This is true. It happened to me on my Emperor 400's.
I now clean the floss or change it weekly in my 300g.
It polishes the water great. But it does not know when it's clogged.
It just keeps pumping water wherever it can put it.
